Keep It Simple - Discover the Harmony of Nature with Jojo Bloom
Jojo Bloom has set out to create a more simple solution to effective skin care.
Many of us are challenged by age old skin care problems. To name few of these:
- Skin type: Dry, scaly and flaky. Oily. Sensitivity to soaps and lotions. Or more often than not, a combination, of each on different parts of the body, face, scalp, hands, elbows, feet.
- Fine wrinkles, scarring (such as pregnant bellies) and scratches.
- More challenging issues such as Psoriasis and Eczema.
Some of the more common solutions include:
- Hydration
- Moisturising
- Emollients
- Exfoliation
- Vitamins and minerals
- Skin tightening Serums
The skin care care industry is very large and competitive, segmented and heavily advertised.
But is a sense, it has become a competition of luxurious brand names and numerous unpronounceable ingredients listed on the back label in tiny print.
You may be surprised at the number of chemical ingredients, which are listed in order of percentage of the product volume. Any active, naturally derived label headline ingredients (for example Shea butter and Jojoba oil), are often well down the list being present in small quantities
'Aqua' (water) is often at the top of the list. In some cases representing almost 50% of the volume.
Water, is a cost-effective filler. Once water is introduced to oils, it needs to be emulsifier. This can become a slippery slope, requiring anti-oxidants (as a preservative), alcohols, thickening agents, and petroleum-derived additives to provide a hydration barrier and to enhance 'slip' and 'feel'.
Here is one example of a commercial Shea lotion, that has Water as the highest portion of the product mix. Other than a large range of oils (most adding minimum value, notice the ingredients that are not part of the "active' ingredients:
Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*^, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut Oil Derived), Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin (Vegetable), Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Allantoin, Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract, Commiphora Myrrha Resin (Myrrh) Extract, Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend)
In contrast, Jojo Bloom use just three 100% organic, naturally derived ingredients.
Each of these have been proven over centuries of use to provide effective care and prophylactic (defence) for most skin types.
We specifically use unrefined versions of our Shea and Jojoba, as the refining process removes a large portion of the active vitamins and minerals.
Shea Butter (butyrosperumum parkii): Nature’s Deep Moisturizer
At the heart of Inner Bloom is Shea butter, which is renowned for its intensive moisturizing properties, thanks to its high content of vitamins A, E, and F.
These nutrients work together to:
- Deeply Hydrate: Shea butter provides lasting moisture by forming a protective barrier on the skin, which helps to lock in hydration (ie the water that you drink) and prevent dryness.
- Enhance Skin Elasticity: Rich in essential fatty acids, it supports skin elasticity and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Sooth and Heal: Known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, Shea butter helps to soothe irritated skin and promote faster healing of minor cuts and scrapes.
Jojoba Oil (simmondsia chinensis): The Perfect Complement to Shea butter.
Blended seamlessly with organic Golden Jojoba oil, Inner Bloom benefits from the unique properties of this versatile oil:
- Balancing Moisture: Definitively an ‘ester’ Jojoba oil closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum, making it an excellent choice for balancing oil production and providing moisture without clogging pores.
- Nourishing and Protecting: Packed with vitamins E and B, as well as minerals like zinc and copper, Jojoba oil nourishes the skin and offers protection from environmental damage.
- Enhancing Absorption: Its lightweight texture allows it to absorb quickly, delivering nutrients deeper into the skin without leaving a greasy residue.
Both, have been credited with assisting in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
